This project is a compact A-frame cottage designed as a quiet retreat within a forested, water-adjacent landscape. The architecture relies on a simple, efficient form that minimizes footprint while maximizing spatial experience and connection to the surroundings.

The steep gable roof defines both structure and enclosure, creating a clear internal volume that accommodates an open living space at the ground level and a lofted mezzanine above. Large glazed panels at the front open the interior to views of the landscape and water, allowing daylight to penetrate deep into the space and visually extend the interior outward.

Materiality is restrained and functional. A metal roof and steel framing provide structural clarity and durability, while wood finishes inside introduce warmth and scale. The interior layout remains open and flexible, with the staircase acting as both circulation and spatial divider rather than a closed element.

The cottage is approached through a simple driveway and opens onto a decked entry, reinforcing indoor–outdoor continuity. There is no excess program or ornamentation. The design focuses on calm, efficiency, and immersion in nature, making it suitable as a vacation home, remote retreat, or minimal forest dwelling.

This is a cottage defined by form, light, and setting rather than size, offering a contemporary interpretation of the classic A-frame typology adapted for modern living.
